Value Added Tax (VAT) was implemented in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in January 2018

with the aim of diversifying revenue streams and strengthening the economic structure through an indirect tax framework. The VAT rate was later updated to 15%, as per the regulations issued by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA).
